"Are you lonely?" The wind whispers.
"Does it seem like I am?"
I asked.
"Well, if you can hear my whispers you must be. Because that means you are alone. And I suppose being alone must be pretty lonely," says the wind.
"Ah, on the contrary, I love my solitude. No fuss, no care and no troubles! This is how it should be. So wind, if you don't mind, please go elsewhere. Whisper in someone else's ear, but not mine!" I insisted.
Upon leaving, the wind whispered once again, "Let's see if silence would be a better companion. You know, everyone needs a friend now and again. But I'll do as you wish, I'll be gone in a swish!"
The wind left and all was silent.
Moments passed by and I could hear the thoughts in my head.
Soon I was bored and I knew the wind was right.
I called for the wind but silence had cut the distance of my yell short.
Days went before the wind returned.
"How are you my friend?" the wind smiled.
"Oh, I was wrong! You were right! I am lonely!" I sadly concurred.
"Thus you can hear my whispers," the wind said in an I told you so manner and laughed, "Let me blow you off to a place where they dance all night and lay on the beach all day. Oh you would love it! The parties, the feasts and the islanders!"
"Oh, please please will you take me there?" I begged.
"Sure, I'll take you there. Leave behind everything else but your wild heart. For young blood, you'll make the world sing." And with that, the wind scooped me up, blew me off to a paradise of infinite discovery.
Whenever I think of the wind, I tear up with a crooked smile. The wind was right, everything is much better out in the open with new faces to meet and the endless list of places to go to.
