Amie & The Moon Part 1

Every night just before three year old Amie closed her eyes and fell asleep her mother would sing a lullaby.

"Sleep now my dearest love.
What I treasure most is you.
Dream of a pretty white dove.
Soaring in the sky so blue.
Don't fear the silent night.
You're protected by the moonlight.
Into sleep you now must row.
Close your eyes.
And remember.
I love you so".

Afterwards her mother would tuck her in and kiss her on the forehead. Amie was always sleeping since long ago at this point. But she felt it. Felt the comfort of being tucked in by a loving mother.

As Amie grew to be four, the bond between mother and daughter grew even stronger. They did everything together. The love they felt towards each other was a stronger than any other love the world had ever seen.

One day, after playing for hours Amie sat down and watched the stars. Perhaps for the first time in detail. That's when she fell in love. Not with a boy. No, she was far to young for that. She fell in love with the moon. "Mother, what do you call that big white ball in the sky? Don't you just love it?" She asked. Her mother answered "It's the moon, dear. And yes I do, very much infact". Amie was in complete awe. After a while she manage to say "I wan't to go to the moon with you sometime". Ever since then Amie spent every hour between sunset and bedtime looking at the moon in admiration.

So far, a happy story of love and joy. But there is something I have not yet told. Not even Amie knew. As happy as they booth seemed, there was a weight, as heavy as the world, on the shoulders of the mother. She didn't dare to tell. The thought of her daughter left alone in the world was to much, unbearable. Now you probably ask: What was it that she couldn't tell? Well, she had only a few months left to live. She had been sick in cancer for a long time without knowing. The cancer inside of her had reached vital parts of her fragile body.

Amie was now five and lived in the eternal sunshine of her spotless mind while her mother lived the best she could for the sake of her unknowing daughter. They kept on playing as before. Living in their false happily ever after. But soon Amie noticed something wasn't right. She didn't worry about it too much. Her life was perfect, what could go wrong?
