Since she was only five
She's been used to a punch or a kick
She feels it's a privilege to be alive
Because she is fatally sick
Even though her time has a limit she does not grief
She gives lost people some hope and belief
She sees beauty in the smallest of things
She is what you would call an angel without wings
I saw her once, helping a man over the crosswalk
He thanked her then he started to talk
He talked for hours about his entire life
His children and the coming and going of his wife
When he finished after four hours or so
He thanked her again and begged her "don't go"
So she took him to see the places of his youth
Then the old man told her the truth
"I've had no children of my own, nor a wife
What I told you were only the dreams in my life
But you, a stranger, has shown me
That even though I am lonely
My dreary heart still has a spark
I am no longer afraid of the dark"
A year ago they both went into the dark
They left this earth, they left their spark
I saw something today
When the sun had just gone away
I was out for a walk,
it was at half past eleven
I saw the man and the girl,
they were talking in heaven
