Once there was a girl named Leah. She was lonely, so very lonely. Her mother never let her see anyone. She said that the world is evil.
Leah lived alone with her mother in a small house in the woods. She was beautiful. Utterly, stunningly beautiful. She had glimmering hazel eyes, hair as red as fire and a heart of solid gold.
One day when her mother became very sick Leah had to go to town to get medicine.
She walked through the forrest for hours. She was lost. On a stone she sat and sobbed until a young man found her. "Why is such a beautiful young lady sitting all alone in the woods?" he asked. "I'm lost, I have to get to town" she answered. He said they would make a deal. "I take you to town if I get a dance with you at the royal prom" She had no choice, she had to get to town. "Fine" she said. The man followed her all the way to the doctor and even back.
A week later Leah sneaked out of the house and headed for the royal prom. She had no fancy clothes so she borrowed her mothers slightly to large dress.
When she got to the castle porch it had already started. There, in the middle of the crowd she saw the man. He was more beautiful than she remembered. Without saying a word he came closer and took her hand. They started dancing. He was very good. Gracious even. The combination of the moonlight, the music, his dancing and his beautiful face made her fall in love. She had never felt love before.
Later on that night they sat down by the water. "Do you love me?" Leah asked. "From the bottom of my heart" he replied. "Then I want to give you this" she said. In her hand she held her heart of gold.
The man took the her heart and left. He never returned. The man never wanted her love, he wanted her golden heart. Leah never loved again.
