Here's a moment from the zany and tragic life of Edgar Conan Parker. To set the mood: the time is WWII, a Jewish, Polish woman named Viktoria is now living with Edgar due to the Nazis burning down her house.
Edgar: I'm glad I finally started reading the newspaper. I don't get out much so I'm not very up to date on what's going on in the world. A few minutes later.........… Edgar: These Nazis are so barbaric! Why are people still so uncivilized?!? I mean, it's the 20th century for God's sake! Viktoria: Um, excuse me Edgar. Actually, it's the 21st century. Edgar: What?!? I missed a whole century?!?! Wow, I really don't get out much.
