"Ceara! It's time to wake up!" I heard my mum call.

I winced as the sunlight hurt my eyes.

All I wanted to do was sleep, but I knew that wasn't going to happen.

I stumbled downstairs and began to make myself breakfast.

Cereal, banana, and a bagel. Nothing too complicated.

Today's my first day of eighth grade! I thought to myself.

Wow, I couldn't believe it!

I remembered those times when I was little and I thought I'd never be in eighth grade. I mean it just seemed so far away.

But now it's finally happening!

Wow.

I took the last bite of my bagel as I started to get ready.

I began to hum "Another day" by Paul McCartney as I brushed my teeth.

Do do do do do do, it's just another daaaay!

Now I have to put on my uniform which is a white shirt, black skirt, and a green tie.

It's the same thing for guys but without the skirt obviously.

"Goodbye Mum!" I said as I headed out the door.

"Goodbye! Have a nice day!"

I love getting to walk to school. It gives me time to think.

"Good morning Leroy!" I said cheerfully as I passed the local pub.

"Morning!" he said as he lifted his head up from the table. There was a bottle of vodka next to him as usual.

Leroy always hangs out at the pub. In fact, no ones ever seen him when he wasn't in the pub taking a huge swig of vodka or offering people advice (for a drunk he is pretty knowledgable).

I waved as I walked by the asylum.

"Orange juice! Orange juice! ORANGE JUICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I heard one of the guys there shriek.

Finally I arrived at my school.

"The Greendell school of Vandersonville" it said in big green letters.

Sorry, I should have said this earlier, I live in Vandersonville New York.

I walked up the giant stairs as I headed to home room.

I can't believe I'm finally an eighth grader! I thought excitedly.

"Hello everyone!" I said.

"Hi Ceara!" Mary said with a smile.

Mary is my best friend in the whole wide world! I could tell her anything (and I do mean ANYTHING).

She had brown hair, gray eyes, and always knew how to make me laugh.

Then we started talking about how all the movies nowadays are really crappy.

All the other kids were arguing about a bunch random stuff.

"Ninjas are way awesomer than pirates!" one of the kids yelled.

"They are so not!" another one said furiously.

I'll never understand how they can argue over such silly things.

Oh well.

This year's going to be pretty tough for me.

My only friend here is Mary and my friend Caroline is moving to Japan!

JAPAN!!!!!

Do you have any idea how much I'll be able to see her?!?!

Once a year at the very most!

I don't want her to go to Japan!

Although if I were to have a friend live in a far away country Japan would be my number one choice, but still.

"Alright students! Since this is your first day of eighth grade I'll tell you all the things you need to know," said Ms. Zedler (our home room teacher/history teacher).

"Firstly, you're the oldest now so you have to set a good example for the younger students. So no cursing, no fighting, and ABSOLUTELY NO MAKING RACIST JOKES ABOUT THE PAKISTANI'S BEING TERRORISTS!"

But everyone was too busy arguing to hear what she was saying.

"Ms. Zedler, I have a question," I said.

"Fire away."

"Do we get to learn about WWII this year?!?!?!?!?!?!?!"

"Yes we do."

"PRAISE THE LORD HALLELUJAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Then everyone began to stare at me, but I couldn't have cared less.

We get to learn about WWII!!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe this year won't be so bad after all.

"Greendell school of Vandersonville" I read nervously.

I can't believe this is my first day of kindergarten!

Mommy and Daddy said it would be real fun but I'm not so sure.

What if no one likes me?

Or what if they make fun of me?

I took a deep breath as I looked for my classroom.

Here it is!

Room 5.

"H-hello. My name's Ellie," I said.

"Welcome to kindergarten Ellie. My name is Ms. Adeline. I will be your kindergarten teacher," a woman said with a look that totally screamed "I really wish I wasn't here right now.

"Hi! My name is Will," a boy said.

"Do you like waffles?"

"I love waffles!" I said with a huge grin on my face.

"What's your favorite thing to put on them? Syrup, honey, or ketchup?"

I wrinkled my nose.

"Not a ketchup fan, eh?"

I nodded my head no.

"I thought so."

During playtime I played dinosaurs with Will.

"Alright everybody! I hope you kids had as much fun playing with these toys as the Chinese kids did making them because it's time to clean up!" Ms. Adeline said.

"Aaaaaaww, already?" the class moaned.

There was a bit of complaining at first, but everyone began to put everything away.

"Now it's time to learn some math. Can anyone tell me what 2+2=?" Ms.Adeline asked.

"Five?" one kid said nervously.

"No! Now can we have someone answer who isn't a total moron?"

"Um, four?" I said.

"Correct! Good job Ellie. Now who can tell me what 4+3=?"

The day went by so fast I couldn't believe it!

Before I knew it it was time for story hour.

"And then the prince left Cinderella for her older sister. The end."

"Excuse me, Ms. Adeline. But doesn't Cinderella end up marrying the prince and living happily ever after?" I asked.

"Not in real life it doesn't," said Ms. Adeline.

Then it was time to pack up our things and go home.

"See you tomorrow!" I said to Will.

"See you tomorrow!"

I guess you were right Mommy and Daddy.

Today was pretty fun.

I can't wait for tomorrow!
