Chapter 5
------------
-"Oh my god. Jonah. It's my mom. She's calling me. Right now. What do I do?!?"
-"Don't answer it Charlotte!"
My phone rings and rings, finally going to voicemail. As soon as my mom hangs up her end of the phone, I press speakerphone, and play. We all listen as my mother's evil voice seeps into the car.
-"Look Charlotte, I don't know where the hell you are, but you better get your ass back home. If you fail to come home by 9 PM tonight, I'll find you, some way, some how. You will not hide from me. When I do find you, you will regret your choice more than anything you have ever regretted in your whole entire life. So I highly suggest you get yourself home." With that, her phone clicks off, and the message ends. I burst into tears.
-"Charlotte, nothing is going to happen to you, I promise. I won't let that woman near you. You should have told me it was this bad. I could've helped you so much sooner Charlotte!" Mrs. Henderson says to me.
-"I'm so scared! I'm not going home, she can't make me. I won't do it."
-"Charlotte, honey, there is no way in hell you're going back to that house. I will make sure of that. You can stay at our house as long as you need."
-"Thank you so much, for everything! I don't know what she would've done to me if I had stayed."
-"It's fine, really. I suggest talking to your counsellor or a teacher tomorrow though."
-"Oh, um okay. Maybe I'll talk to Emily. Or Mrs. Johnson. I know her pretty well from drama."
-"I think you should talk to Mrs. Johnson Char. She is your counsellor. Plus, you two are really close." Jonah intervenes.
-"Yeah, I will. Thanks Jonah."
We drive to Jonah's house and I take my bags to the spare bedroom. Luckily, I brought everything I would need for school, so I don't have to sneak back into my house. Jonah knocks on the door quietly, and walks in the room. He sits down on the edge of the bed with me, and grabs my hand. We sit there together for a long time.
The next day I decide to go talk to Mrs. Johnson. I go there right before second hour. As I approach Mrs. Johnson's door, I get nervous. My legs start shaking and I get butterflies. Before I chicken out, I knock on the door. I stand there for about 30 seconds until the door opens. That's when I get sick to my stomach nervous.
