I packed Lucy's things into her bag and helped her discharge herself. We walked out into the crisp winters morning, mist forming near our faces at every exhale. The pale morning sun shone through the barren trees. Lucy shivered despite the sun and I draped my hoodie over her shoulders. She smiled at me.
When we got back to our room I unpacked Lucy's bag for her, while she took a long shower. When she stepped out of the bathroom it was as if the water had washed the tiredness that had been creeping in off her face, her cheeks were rosy from the hot shower and her long blonde hair hung around her shoulders. Her eyes gleamed their usual sea blue, which had been much darker and more hooded over the past few months.
Tom swept in about half an hour later to drive us to the shops. He walked over and kissed Lucy lightly on the lips and wrapped one arm around her waist. They smiled at each other lovingly and Lucy rested her head on his shoulder. 'come on then you two! We will have to hurry if we want to get there in time.' Tom chuckled.
We all piled into Tom's beaten up car and prepared for the hour and a half drive to the nearest shopping center. We had the roof down the whole way with Lucy and I's long hair streaming behind us. We had the radio blasting and were singing along to all our favorite Christmas songs and laughing about how out of tune we were. I couldn't remember the last time Lucy and I had laughed so much together and I felt happy.
