I waited for you since I could remember,
Pictured you riding up the lane,
But now I wish I hadn't dreamt so much,
Really, you're quite a pain.
I couldn't believe my eyes that day,
When I saw you come riding in.
You asked of me only one thing,
To let down my hair from within.
It took a while to get it all out,
You see it hasn't been cut before,
But eventually my hair hit the ground,
Got dirty from the muddy floor.
Not only did you pull and tug at it,
You yanked quite a bit out,
But I told myself that I'd be free from this prison that I was forever bound.
Quite a long story of how I got out,
Really it would bore you to tears.
But I was happy to finally escape,
The end of all of my fears.
You brought me to your home, a small one at that,
You had a cat that sat on your chair,
And as I went to stroke his fur he clawed me and pulled at my hair.
My life from then on was history,
In the castle I didn't really care,
Been with this man for 50 odd years,
Oh why did I let down my hair?
