Chapter 24:

The soft morning sun woke us from our heavy rest. The beams of light poured through our shutters and I suddenly remembered where I was. Paris. My favourite place on earth. And I had time to explore every nook and cranny I may have missed before.

Matt and I squeezed around the minute area as we folded our bed back up. Matt wanted to go and see one of his fathers branches that had recently been sent up near the busy shops, but we decided to explore for a little while and meet up for lunch later.

There was a cold bite in the air and I wrapped up warm in my scarf and mac. Busy shopaholics scurried past with their equipped Louis Vuitton™ shopping bags and a few French gentlemen greeted me on my way. I tried not to do any shopping on the first day, but couldn't resist buying a rusting little Eiffel Tower I saw sitting on a stall table as I fell in love with it straight away.

The crowds died down as I made my way through some side alleys with tiny boutiques covering both sides and soon found myself in a quiet market area with running fountains of stone cherubs and angels, as well as a few crepe shops. On the corner was a tiny shop that had clearly faded over the years, but I instantly spotted the white beauties being shown at the window. I quickly ran over and as I opened the old door an old woman sat with her arms crossed, quickly moving when I came in. "Bonjour madam." "Bonjour! Ca va?" She asked slowly walking towards me. Luckily my French was of a good standard as I had been learning since the age of four and got a good understanding of everything she said.

She showed me around the bridal shop and informed me that it had been going for generations. The dresses were so stunning and perfectly simple and I instantly fell in love with it. As I told her about my business and how I planned on buying a shop of my own, a pretty girl walked in, showing her thriving baby bump. Her blonde hair swished around her shoulders and she greeted the owner with loving kisses and hugs. She had come to try on her wedding dress one last time. I loved that the seamstress had created a dress that worked for the heavily pregnant bride and shared with me that they loved it when the bridal shops created dresses big enough for them. The bride looked so flawless in her gown and I could see the little life inside her kicking away through the fabric.

Her dress was satin with little flowers at the waist and and thin sleeves. She was naturally tall so the dress floated nicely across her. When I knew it was my time to go I thanked the kind lady and made my way to Matt and I's meeting point. A little grin creeped up on me as I had an idea for the shop. Although it was a long way off of becoming mine, I excitedly made notes in my head of how I was going to plan it all out.

When Matt saw me, he used the little French he knew on me, feeling very proud. "Etais-vous bien?" (Are you ok) he asked kissing me in the bright sunshine? "Parfait." (Perfect)
