Chapter 34:

We sat there jogging our pens up and down. Both Matt and I decided to start our plans for the big day, although both found it difficult. I felt an awkwardness in the air; despite our fulfilling love for each other as well as wanting to get married, our planning just wouldn't arise. "Soph, we really need to start! We haven't even thought about a date yet!" Said Matt unsympathetically. "Ok Matt! We will! We don't need to make a decision tonight." I replied, upset by his reaction. Neither of us had any clue what we were doing. This was all new to us and our ideas always opposed one another's. for the two hours we tried to make a start, nothing came and decided it was time to leave it for the day.

Matt had treated me worse then I'd ever seen before, and I didn't like how he'd been recently. His behaviour was tense and upset, and despite my efforts, he wouldn't open up to me. I wanted to cry, but had no one to turn to. The shop was what needed me. When Matt realised what he'd been doing, maybe our plans could develop further. Until then, we had little hope.

Business was thriving; The Wedding Shop was my only escape from the outside world, and every moment I was there my heart felt content. More brides had heard about the shop and we regularly had couples coming in and taking ideas down. I had help from Matt's cousin, as well as another lady who'd been working part time for a few weeks, and I counted down the days until my top chef would be back. Cindy was in love with what I had done, although rarely came to visit as it brought back too many bad memories; of course I completely understood. She had been doing a part time job at the library, just to keep her going, but despised every minute of it. It was nothing like her past career, one which she shared with her talented and warm hearted older sister.

I decided to visit Jasmine and Amelie that day as I enjoyed there company a bit too much. Amelie had grown plenty of hair, her blue eyes peeping from behind her blankie, and Jas was looking back to her usual self. She told me how life was hard when Sam was away on travel, looking after a new born on her own. But there was no one able to help her, she'd been looking for help for a few weeks but had no luck. It was then I thought of the perfect way to help my two best friends, both needing my support.
