(one swear word)
When music had soul When the lyrics had feeling Before Idol took control Before "downloading is stealing"
There was vinyl so black 78's and 45's Elvis Presley, Roberta Flack Back when they sang for their lives
But it became all about sales The heart tore from it all Mass produced cheap CDs Needles needed no more
Now the pop stars are fake Manufactured for hits It's all aimed at little girls And talent doesn't mean shit
But not all hope is gone There's artists with stories to tell Like the Mumford and Sons Ed Sheeran and Adele
If you sift through the crap There is magic to hear Like Corinne Bailey Rae Her voice smooth as the air
There is Damien Rice Who writes songs with his heart There's a man named Bon Iver Who you'll never see in the charts
So ignore what you see And believe what you hear Don't jump the bandwagons Buy with your heart and your ears
