The Roller Coaster

It was dark. I was in a cave, scary red eyes looked at me. I didn't dare take a step forward into the pitch black cave, but suddenly something pushed me and then I couldn't see a thing. What was it? Was it the legendary monster? I continued with fright and might but no sight of the monster. Me easily scared, I take a deep breath and stare at the red eyes further ahead. Was it a dream or reality? Without hesitating I run, I didn't even know where I was going. I hear a roar, I jumped back with my two feet. I was shivering, I was imagining a giant green monster with blood dripping around his mouth, that was how people described it, but they never actually saw him. I had no sword nothing just a watch and a map but they were no use cause I couldn't see a thing. I hear a foot step I hide behind a big rock. At that moment everything freezed, no more noise, the rolling and moving red eyes stopped moving. Then I look up and lights are turned on I was frightened, terrified. I see my friend waving at me and I find out that I was in a roller coaster thing, but I wasn't in the roller coaster I was on the rails. The roller coaster passing was the roar. The eyes, the bats, the dark cave was the decoration, the theme . I was scared for nothing. But I should have been scared of being rolled over by the roller coaster but by luck I didn't.

The reveal works because of how completely you commit to the fear first. The reader has to be as scared as you were for that relief to land.
