Insomnia how you plague me,
Visiting only so late,
I have no desire for your dull numbing power
When consciousness is a permanent state.
It washes into the sepia edges of my world,
An upright silence in the epicentre of the night.
Clinging to my attempts at snoozing
Keeping me awake until the virgin light.
How serene is the world to reveal herself to us in a celestial veil,
Her moon beam motives of vanity driving my sleep deprived state to insanity.
Oh how I crave the release of slumber,
The sweet periodical kiss of cotton duvet.
Wishing tentatively past my luck to keep the dreams away.
Then there are visions of you,
Appearing to brimming eyes desperate for forty winks.
You do not care for rest.
The clock face blurring now like ink.
See you in the morning
'Christ! If I ever get to sleep!'
Spare me from insomnia
And all its wicked traps.
Bath me in a slumberers bliss.
All I need's a nap...
Zzzzzzzzzz
