My thanks to those who held me near,
To those who told me that they care,
To those who could only smile,
and perhaps just sit with me a while.
To those who left me unattended,
To those whose friendship with me ended,
To those I saw just now and then,
But upon whom I knew I could depend.
To you my family and true friends
It's you who help me through to the end.
You see, I had been wheelchair bound,
And my true self I hadn't found,
But now I know, after 10 long years,
The M.E. is gone and I've nothing to fear.
I dare it to come rushing back,
I'd give it what for, there's no doubt about that,
You see I've learned that no matter what,
It's me that counts,
So I'll whip M.E.'s bot!
* I've been M.E. free and walking again for 6 and a half years and it's only now I feel I can write this. Who know it'd be a poem?! Still, better late than never! :-)
