The frosted grass cracked underfoot,
As winter took a hold of the night,
Santa appeared covered in soot,
Giving the reindeers such a fright,
Santa had tried to be quiet,
As he walked the deserted street,
For Santa was very private,
But he was deceived by the noise made by his feet,
He had one house left to deliver,
Before he finished this Christmas Eve,
Santa let out a shiver,
And shook the soot off his sleeve,
This time he'd use the front door,
No more sooty stains for his suit,
He left footprints of snow on the floor,
And a sack of presents to boot,
Back to the sleigh he went,
For his job for this year was over,
He was well and truly spent,
His sleigh his lucky clover,
Until next year kids,
Santa's going for a rest,
A merry Christmas I bid,
And a new year truly blessed.
