English class last year.
Once upon a time, there was a girl I knew so well
So sweet and helpful,
Her mind open like her arms,
Offering hugs.
She was so passionate,
A fire burning in her eyes,
Giving advice as if she had a clue,
Though she knew she was making a change.
So optimistic,
Now here's the twist you've been waiting for.
She has turned into an awful shade of grey,
So careless and cold,
Negatively judging everything,
The fire is gone.
She now brushes things off,
“Been there, done that, you'll be fine”.
So pessimistic,
Isn't it wonderful?
She liked the person she was,
It was who she wanted to be.
It seemed as though her heart she held out every time while lending a helping hand slipped, fell and nearly all her emotions spilled on the cold ground.
Her insides have gone from a lovely shade of bright red to black.
She can't seem to figure out why.
It took the worst to bring out the best in her.
She wonders how she could find herself again.
Days that were once greatly appreciated are now seen as regular days.
Her passion for everything has faded.
Where did it all go?
She can't seem to figure it out.
She asks herself,
“Who am I?”
There was no response.
