A flash. Then silence.
An iridescent white light
Flickered before her eyes.
In the silence, she lay,
Her head on his shoulder.
He was her hero,
Her soldier.
She looked out across the lake,
She spoke about it.
She touched the surface,
The lake was moonlit.
They were sitting on the leaves,
The leaves were frosted.
Cold and crunchy,
These nights wasted.
He was a fake,
Not another untrusting?
She'd had enough,
Her heart rusting.
She set the trees alight,
Watching the amber blaze.
Fell to the water
In a poisoned daze.
A flash. Then silence.
An iridescent white light
Flickered before her eyes.
