they were falling for each other
they were falling in love
they were just like each other
in common they had so much

everybody knew
they were meant to be
the perfect couple
everyone could see

but they couldn't be together
and it hurt so much
him; he understood
her; it was all such a rush

with his best friend telling her she was wrong
she felt like he had hated her all along
all of her friends said it'd be alright
that her soul mate would wait, but she wasn't sure they were right

it hurt her so much,
not being allowed to date
she liked him a lot,
she didn't want to wait

they're soul mates, true
that we all know
they'll be together eventually
that does certainly show

it all started awhile ago
back in math class
and look at them now,
always sharing a laugh

two lovers separated
by strict rules
they should be together
but those rules are so cruel

someday though,
the light will shine,
and they will be together
for all of time.
