Caught in moments of deep melancholy
Nostalgic recollections of days long gone
Of memorable times on the smiling coast
When People were free and laughed a lot more
Before the revolution and the Bogeyman came
Before the devil snatched the throne to make it his own
When food was cheap and moral value sky high
Before destitution led to political prostitutes
Before the smiling coast felt the pain and began to frown
Bound in bloody chains by an obstinate clown
I hope he gets to drown or at least skips town
Gone away for good never to be found
For I long to see the day my beloved smiles again
My sweet Motherland, I hope she finds a better man
Free from the shackles of this evil without bounds
Restored to her glory with the joys and pride back
Tyranny is bound to perish and that is without a doubt
So I await the day when the coast will smile again.
