So this is my band, The Illuminati Funk Unit. I would like opinions on the name. We formed because we wanted to bring funk back in to the charts, and I'm not talking James Brown funk, I'm talking real hard hitting, foot tapping grooves that stick in your head like a fork in grass.
The band consists of myself on guitar and bass, recording the bass on a loop pedal for our gigs, Badger on vocals and bass effect duties, and Lady Lover on drums.
I would offer you to gander a Facebook or MySpace page, but we've decided to maintain as anonymous as possible, as the illuminati did. We feel that at a gig, we play, we leave, and you never see us again. Why should you? You wanna hear the music, not see the jesters.
We have a few songs but our proudest numbers are a little groove called Stop, Go, Yeah, No, a G minor groove that takes you from the rosie stoners view of funk and places it in a grungy urban sound. The we have Light a fire in it, (or Ham and Cheese). As my self and badger do like to get smashed in a Forrest with disposable bbq's and stay there all night writing music we thought we'd compose a song that captured these artistic adventures of ours. And it has. Think of it as a melody on drugs, and lyrics broken out of a psyche ward. Finally we come to Lady Lover, Brother. This is the kind of song that takes you fro a foot tapping, head bopping mood to a let's go crazy in the heavenly breakdown. Written about no one in particular lady lover is about a man who sits at home watching television all day, imagining being a rockstar an having any and every woman on earth. "because he's a lady lover, brother, a lady lover in his mind.
