We crossed the salty crumbling ground With no life forms and no water around In suffocating heat as the sun shone down We reached the border but heard no sounds

Another all too familiar baron wasteland of space The border was marked by the colour change from age Our land of the seas in now dry, salty and dead Theirs is moist, flourishing but red

We waited and waited in anticipation We knew we could not cross over which added to our frustration We just waited for gravity to relieve our dehydration We could see the ground change to a deeper red as it made its way to our location

5 minutes is all the time we had to sip We had to be quick as our sun would evaporate it Finally it was at the border and the ground began to split Then the fresh cool water oozed out on our side and we took a drink

Then we heard the sounds of chanting voices From out of nowhere they came towards us but didn't cross borders We stood our ground in firm silence We told them we will not partake in their mindless violence

Then their newly appointed leader was presented to us He said he was a considerate man and never wanted any fuss He said it was time for change as needs must We must live in peace as man is on the extinction cusp

We welcomed his ideals in fair trade and equality for all humans We united at the signing of the documents of freedom The borders were taken down and we were allowed to freely drink Now our once small tribes are as one and flourishing and no longer verging on extinct
