"Here boy!! Boy? Come here!!" Bloody dog won't come near

He was running around his morning Playing with his toys and barking Chasing his tail and jumping Now he's lethargic and whining

I don't know he just isn't right He has a sadness in his eyes I checked his body and it feels alright Maybe he will feel better tonight

"Here boy!! Dinner!! Here you go!!" Bloody hell he just don't want to know

Strange he hasn't been sick Hasn't chewed on any fallen sticks He's just a puppy and shouldn't be like this He won't even respond or play with the kids

"Come on boy! Let's go to the vets!" Whatever is wrong they will fix it

No blood in his stools No cuts, lumps or knocks We just don't know what to do We are all just in a bit of shock

"We will give him an x-ray today Blood tests will reveal if he's in any pain Maybe he swallowed a foreign object I'm sure we will get to the bottom it it."

"I'm afraid it's bad news sir Your puppy has Lungworm for sure." "But he's been de-flead and de-wormed, I've never even heard of this Lungworm!"

"Lungworm is caused by eating slugs or snails Some catch it from licking their slimy trails It's a parasite that eats away at their insides Causing a slow and painful death It can be treated and we will do our best He's still young and he's fighting real strong The next few hours are critical Let's hope and pray he will pull through."

In 2010 a survey of UK veterinary surgeons showed that 37% had confirmed a case of Angiostrongylus vasorum (Lungworm) at their practice. 84% of people still don’t know the symptoms of the lungworm infection in dogs, potentially putting nearly 6.9million of the UK’s beloved canines at risk.
