Hey you lovely Opussians, I'm gonna have a little waffle here about my writing progress. I say little but it's probably gonna be a long ass piece lol.
For those that don't know I've only been writing for approx 10-11 months or so and I started because I'm a BIG music fan and wanted to write songs. When I found Opuss I had about 4-5 pieces but since opuss I have written over 500 poems/stories and lyrics for potential songs. Incredible really!
Anyways, I put an advert on a reputable music website "pretending" I'm a lyricist, lol. I got a reply from a band who wanted my words, cool, so I wrote to their music and gave them my lyrics via email, never heard from them again, damn. Oh well.
Then approx 4 months later out of the blue a guy replied to my advert (which I'd forgotten about) asking for help with lyrics for his songs. He's French, a guitarist and composer but his English isn't too good. So he sent me some sounds and what lyrics he had for the 1st song (he wanted to make 3 songs for an EP so he could approach record labels ect) so after lots of emails back and forth I re-worked and re-structured his lyrics until we were both happy. Then I wrote the 2nd and 3rd set of lyrics based on his needs, again via email, back and forth until we were both happy.
He was pretty impressed and very happy with what we done and has gone into a professional recording studio, payed for it all himself, payed an American singer to do vocals and today I have the 1st track which is 90% completed! Awesome!
The 2nd and 3rd tracks are about halfway completed.
Here's the point....
If you have a dream, follow it, with lots of luck and a bit of hard work and determination you could just see it through.
I'm not into fame and fortune and all that crap, for me, success is/was about finding a musician(s), writing and creating something half decent that others may like. Altho I did refuse politely the case of expensive French wine and any initial payment upfront for my lyrics, I'm happy to take the 50% of any royalties, lol
Also while all that was going on....in a strange twist of fate I got friendly with a singer/songwriter/guitarist who has a self released album out now, he's finishing off his 2nd album right now (I've produced a track and probably will do a few more for him) then we are going to write/produce a new album together.
If anybody remembers an old post of mine called "distant love" then this will be a track as he has recorded a rough 1st demo/outline which is pretty damn cooool.
Without Opuss I probably wouldn't be writing so, thanks to you all for liking, reposting and commenting on my pieces. You really are an amazing bunch of misfits lol
P.S. I got my 1000th follower today, amazing.
P.P.S. When all 3 tunes are finished, I'll upload to Internet so you can listen, if you want to, and the material with this other chap. Happy days!
