A caterpillar left its home and returned as a butterfly It had a déjà vu moment for a little while Surveying its ancient family's tree Then, it flew away to be wild and free
It was lured by an English Rose By the perimeter fence with its nectar exposed A mate was waiting and watching to see But, it couldn't work out the birds and the bees
So, it gathered its dreams and fluttered its wings Then, with a fond farewell it flew into the breeze And it flew. And it flew. And it knew As it blew right down to the sea
And resting up upon the shore It remembered its ancestry some more And it said, "what a life we lead" Then, sadly, the beautiful butterfly was deceased
