With softly spoken words We danced the laughs away In the palm of her hand She threw caution to the sand And I watched as her hour glass flicked at the grains

We swayed on the beaches tides Until the hot new summer sunrise Then I left as a stranger on an old sailing ship She smiled again with salty cracked lips As a tear rolled down her face Why did I have to leave that place? My destination should've been right there First port was unknown and unclear Days, weeks, months then years Passed by myself but I didn't stop to stare

Now I've caught up with me again And back to the land of my old friend She never waited for me Built her self a new sand castle with a family It could of been us, but it just wasn't my dream I told her I was sorry and that I'd got it all wrong Then, she introduced a child and I was glad she had moved on As for me, well ,I've got a new bottle of rum waiting for me at the port I'll watch the ships set sail and think of those onboard
