This be my 500th post - what a journey it's been for me, thanks Opussians! Hope you enjoy this dark piece haha x

Well I was taught a secret handshake By a fearless venomous rattlesnake We was travelling out there in the east Where religions form and shape the beast

That snake looked me in the eyes And he said, "is it now my turn to die?" I replied, "there must be a mistake For my god said that it can wait"

So, we headed over the sand dunes For the feast of time was now overdue We stalked the creatures to this oasis To their death, with god, who traded places

There's a taxi waiting for us on the other side Where mountain dew and religions grew The driver knew what fear looked like He'd seen it in his daughters lies

Take me somewhere I don't know Take me where true sailors go Where treasured memories live to grow Take me where the wild winds blow Upon the stormy seas where real serpents show

The snake was coiled and backed into a corner He fixed his gaze upon the fearless daughter He kissed the air and closed his eyes And then, when he awoke and he opened his eyes To his delightful surprise There was a new god right by his side Waiting Praying Changing And he offered out a hand And in that very moment Right there and then Before the chaos of the night The snake and god went roaming and decided the fate of man was right

Oh misery Oh mystery No pleasantries I know you oh so well Like a lonesome child knows darkness hell I was born into the light but turned my back To help the child who had a panic attack Child said The snakes are all around me They give me such a fright The snakes are out to get me Please don't turn out your light

To give comfort to a child who's lost a fight To wrap loving arms around so tight Isn't that the greatest gift of life? To love and protect at day and at night?

Materialistic Where's the freedom in a false sense of security? Where's the comfort in all possessions? Lessons We've traded the keys to the kingdom For a taste of sour milk and a flake of sailors gold While the snakes sleep well Or so I'm told
