I remember the first smile you gave back My heart exploded in that very moment My emotions were under attack The nights free flowing alcohol swayed my movements
I found it hard to control myself but fought well to keep my cool We almost missed each other but chance and fate handed us a good deal
Then the music finished and we were still on a high It was the end of the night but we hadn't said our goodbyes In the lounge upstairs we shared a beer I so wanted to kiss you and hold you near
We kissed and smiled and laughed for awhile Outside in the freezing winter night so wild Exchanging jokes and numbers with a promise to call Playing hard to get when we both wanted it all
Next day I awoke with a long overdue smile upon my face Smug in last nights antics of how you picked me in that noisy crowded place And then came the anxiety of should I ring now, what would I say, would she remember me and the butterflies came That was and still is a great feeling I got then and still do every now and again Then I composed myself from these internal mind games Made the phone call which came very natural in conversation and you remembered my name.
I look back at that call and smile at the silences we shared fondly Shy, nervous yet laughing uncontrollably And the cd you brought me with an interesting meaning Still I sometimes hear it on the radio and I smile "Waiting For Tonight" by J-Lo brings back memories of nights when we were wild
