They wished each other well Tho he could never really tell What was on her fragile mind Over again and now for the last time

He felt himself slipping away inside Reality fading a wish and a dream too far He loved her more than life Leaving was a way to clear his mind

See the madman on the run Inside out having no fun A psycho but he's not the only one Hiding out until the time comes

He lives in isolation among the trees Living off the land killing what he sees Still wishing and dreaming but now he wonders why The stars at night glide across the sky

Then he came back into the town An old stranger who asked around Locals did remember him well Never forgetting when he became ill

He asked of his estranged ex wife Where she lived and if she was still alive A young man said she died years ago His heart sank and tears began to flow

As he walked out of the store The young man said he could help some more From his wallet he produced a picture A smiling man who looked quite familiar

The young man said he is his son Said he understands why he left his mum Said she was the one who was crazy About how she was institutionalised when he was a baby

They closed up the store and talked long into the night Father and son putting past wrongs right Father explained how he had to get away Son replied its ok as he knew he'd come back again one day

They walked out into the fields Talking and laughter filled the hills Resting at the ancient wishing well Father told how and why he left when he fell to his knees Together they wished mum/wife now rest in peace
