Desperate

I opened my eyes on a sunny Saturday morning. I could hear my alarm clock radio playing my favorite Katy perry song Hot N Cold. I feel around for the snooze button as I was yearning more time to sleep. I knew better than to want to sleep past 9:30 AM on Saturday. That is because of my younger 6 year old step sister, Alina. She wants everyone to wake up with her. I don't know why but our step mother, Kate, got her used to it. No sooner had I hit the snooze button, Alina bursts into my room.
"Wake up, Zee!" She called in her high pitched morning voice. I jammed my pillow on my face and let out a groan.
"Zeeeeee! She called, now jumping up and down on my queen sized bed. I threw my pillow at her but I knew its target. She takes karate and gymnastic!
"Let me sleep!" I yell jerking my head up. I was up until midnight last night watching America's Next Top Model marathon.
"But...Zee...today is the day when we shop for your birthday present." She says trying to pull me out of bed. At the sound of my birthday, I jumped out of bed, even in my bare feet, and ran downstairs.
"Dad, it's shopping day!" I call as I run downstairs. I find him at the table drinking coffee and reading the newspaper.
"Morning sunshine. I made pancakes. Grab some." He says in his " I'm going to give you bad news and I'm trying to butter you up".
I stayed in place. I really wanted pancakes but I just froze.
"What is it?" I asked him dementedly. He looked up at me and patted the seat next to him.
"Today, Kate has a show and we can't do shopping day.why don't we do it another time?" He says looking me in Geary eyes.
"But, dad! It's family tradition!" I wail now more tears forming in my eyes.
"I know it's just that, I want to make Kate feel at home." He says as he sets his newspaper down. I'm mad. I'm really mad!
"Ever since you married her, she's been your top priority! You might as well send me to and adoption agency because I know I'm not wanted!" I yell. I can see the anger in my father's eyes but it had to come out. It had to.
"Mackenzie Alexander Smith!" He booms getting up so vigorously his best coffee spilled on his favorite coaster. Just because of Kate. I turn around to storm to my room when I see Alina and Kate at the doorway. Kate seems utterly shocked but as I glance at Alina, I feel horrible! I see her eyes tear up. I wish she hadn't seen that. I run up to the girl and try to give her a hug but she just pushes me off and runs upstairs. I look directly at Kate's sad eyes with hatred.
"This is all your fault! I wish you never met my dad! Now dad and Alina are mad at me!" I scream to Kate as I storm off to my room. I hear dad talking to Kate and Kate sobbing but I just pushed myself to my bed mad cried." I know Kate hurting but so am I, dad." I whisper as I rly myself to slumber.
