A small song I composed one extremely wet afternoon. It's pretty awful. And In 6/8 timing.
Watch the skies! Pieces are Watch the skies! falling now
Down from the tumbling wastes of vacuum and into the opening arms of the stratosphere...
A cosmic reflection From centuries past Oh, The stellar radiation Has got here at last
The dense illustrations that litter the blackness Shining on through no matter Like flickering flames
A billion spotlights to light up the night, their tiniest planets all bursting with life,
And here we all sit, Watch the skies! Watch the skies! With our heads in the ground Watch the skies! Watch the skies!
All the universe or nothingness? Which shall it be...?
All the universe or nothingness? Which shall it be...?
Here we sit waiting When it's ours for the taking We cannot waste any more time
Nothing's forever So pull up the anchor And go...
It's there to explore, And we haven't yet started Stop fighting and raise your eyes
And here we all sit, Watch the skies! Watch the skies! With our heads in the ground Watch the skies! Watch the skies!
All the universe or nothingness? Which shall it be, my dear?
All the universe or nothingness? Which shall it be?
The ultimate goal, The true human plan An astronaut viewing the unending wonderland
The nations and creeds all abandon their flags And go for the hell of the ride
In their tiny new rockets All shiny and bold They'll set for the sunset, past glittering gold And into the paradise, waiting for them at the start.
And here we all sit, Watch the skies! Watch the skies! With our heads in the ground Watch the skies! Watch the skies!
All the universe or nothingness? Which shall it be, my dear?
All the universe or nothingness? Which shall it be?
(goes quiet)
Here we all sit Watch the skies! Watch the skies! Here we all stand Reach the skies! Reach the skies! Here we all jump Touch the skies! Touch the skies! Touch the skies...
