It had been a long day at school. Classes seemed like they were never going to end and my teachers seemed to pick today to explain to me all my flaws. Just another typical day in high school I guess. I opened the door to my house and threw my backpack on the floor with my coat as usual. My mom was in the kitchen cooking dinner like she did everyday at this time. I walked right by her and dropped dead on the couch with the romote.
"Caroline. Is your homework complete? You know the rules about watching tv before your school work is finished. "
"And yet those two rugrats are allowed to run freely around the house." I said.
"Go do your homework Caroline!" my mom screamed.
Caroline is what my mom calles me when she was mad. Most people just call me Callie. It's less formal. As for the two rugrats, they're the twins Robert and Nick. They're eight and run around as if they rule the roost. Somedays I miss the eight years I was an only child.
I grabbed my backpack and dragged it upstairs to my room. Between English, Algebra, History, Science, and Spanish I'm afraid I'm going to explode! Not wanting to deal with any of the work in front of me, I picked up my phone to find three texts from Chelsea. Chelsea was my best friend and we've known each other since kindergarden. We text constantly and she always has something interesting to say. The first two were hi and a smily face but the third one is what got me.
"I got an invite to Micheal's party Saturday night. He said I could bring a friend. Wanna go???"
This was highly unusual. Micheal was one of the popular kids from school and me and Chelsea were just plain old average. Although this could be a trap to embaress the two of us in front of everyone and the invite was a set up, I could not bring myself to turning down the invitation.
"Yes! I can't wait!" I replied as I put down my phone to try and get some work done before dinner.
