Growing Up

When you're a child, you want to grow up quick so you can wear your Mom and Dad's clothes. You want to drive a car, eat a full size burger from McDonalds. You want to work and get a job. Buy a big house even. To not go to school and sleep all day. To not have to do tests
And examinations that kept you up late at night. To get married.

Well that's what I wanted.
I'm in the process of it all and I noticed a few things.

Now that I'm the same size as my mom I can wear her clothes but choose not to as I have my own.
I took my driving theory and realised there's a lot of rules and financial insurances involved.
Although I can finish a full size burger I choose to worry about calories and my appearance.
Finding a job is hard and working takes up a lot of your time and energy. It's hard but you have no choice but to work because you need the money.
Houses don't come with free furniture and you have to make the house your own, keep it clean, pay mortgage, insurance, taxes.
I realised that I would miss school. Miss my friends, miss the daily routine but mostly the fact that it was a time of happiness and limited responsibility.
Last but not least, I realised love is a mysterious thing that comes and goes, can be seem In different forms. Hard to find. Has ups and downs and not everyone can find their prince charming.

What I realised was that growing up.. It's a scary experience. You can get lost and it can be quote lonely. You have a responsibility of your own to uphold. It's difficult and stressful and a lot of people make it look so easy. When things go wrong, you can't run away like you used to do when you were younger.

everyone grows up. They grow up in different ways and in different scenarios.

So get ready. The future holds so many opportunities. You have to take each step and make it your own. Open all doors. And when you're happy, that is when you've truly grown up into the person you were meant to be.
