Driving alone on the nightshift.. Time slowly going by. The radio crackles and i hear my call sign. I cant help but laugh as details are passed of the next job.. Man reports of a 'Big Cat' sighting in the local school ground.. I'm used to jokes being played so i go along with it.. it's about 0200 and i park the car outside the main gates to the school yard. To the rear of the school is the playing field, where the 'big cat' was seen. I climb over fence, almost catching myself on the way.. As i begin to walk around the school i click on my torch and shine it around.. I chuckle to myself thinking 'here i am hunting a tiger in the middle of a town'.... Although amusing, i cant help but stop in my tracks as two eyes reflect back In the darkness from the far side of the field.. As move closer the eyes move and then disappear.. I carry on walking and eventually give up, realising im being stupid and return back to my car.. As i get in there is a knock at the window And i almost jump out of my skin.. ' i called it in' the man says.. 'look i'm not being funny and i'm not drunk.. I saw a big cat, you know, like you see in the zoo.. It was just sat there in the playground cleaning itself. As i passed it suddenly ran off into the field.. It was much larger than a fox and i know it was nothing you would normally see in this country' 'Maybe its the school mascot' i said. I gave the man some reassurance and then carried on my way.. A week later i stopped to speak with some night security guards who were covering a building site near to the school.. ' Anything going on' i asked.. 'Nope.. Except John here thinking he's seen a Tiger!'.. 'When?' 'Last week or so, he was doing his rounds and when he came back he had almost shit himself, saying he thought he'd seen one... Told him night shift does it to you'....
Very odd, never did get to the bottom of it..
