The petals fall from roses in bloom
The scent so fragrant it fills the room.
The thorns so sharp they pierce the skin
And spill the blood from the life within.
A dozen roses of the deepest red,
Sent to the woman who lays in my bed
For she is the blood that courses my veins
My reason for living and bearing the pains.
