Dear Prime Minister
I've decided to write you a letter.
Not in hope that things will eventually get better.
But just to vent, about how you've taxed my breakfast and raised my rent.
Last summer they set the city on fire. What happened to your big society? You're a liar.
The beatles said all you need is love. What about the poor kids? All they need is grub.
We're chained to apathy and raised out of violence. When late nights end, police sirens our silence.
Go to school, be a good kid. But not too good, this is'nt the Bronx but we still call it the hood.
Live and let live, have dreams and aspirations. But not too much, they'll be the bankers, we'll be the imitations.
Keep calm, carry on. Have faith in our nation? Believe me I have, but I'm losing my patience.
Educate yourself. Read books by Bertrand Russell. When that fails, pull your jeans up and hustle.
You have choices. You could always enlist. Forget the good life, we'll kick it Oliver Twist.
But dont count us out. Need breeds a fighter.
If it slips through our fingers...I guess we'll grip tighter
