One silver watch for the time you could'nt keep.
With a battered face and an alarm that never beeps.
One dusty notebook full of blank pages.
I've filled them now, it took me ages.
One ancient leather jacket with a hundred stories to tell.
An inviting feel and familiar smell.
One box of old photos poorly shot.
Edges peeled, battered and fraught.
One copy of Gatsby missing the cover.
Words you left that I'd discover.
One CD I've never played.
I'll work up the courage and hear it some day.
One stick of gum folded in two.
When I quit smoking, I'll have something to chew.
One half bottle of cheap whiskey we never shared.
I sipped on it once because I was dared.
One broken guitar with rusty strings.
I sold it for one that howls and rings.
And,
A hundred memories I doubt I'll ever forget.
Of all the friends I've known, I'm glad that we met.
