"I don't think I should've come," Griffin whispers as we come to the doors of Wal-Mart, "Don't worry, you'll be fine. It's just Wal-Mart, it's not like I'm taking you to an amusement park, then you'd really be lost." I laugh slightly and grab a cart, handing it to Griffin while I get the list from my pocket. He looks around and imitates the other people pushing the carts. I guide him through the vegetable\fruit section, then frozens and milk and stuff. I share bits of information as I go, so in case we do this again, he'll know a little more. He looks fascinated, but he loves learning so I'm not surprised. By the time we're done, our cart is full and we have a little basket with some stuff in it. "I think this was very successful," I state confidently as we get to the cash register, "Now this part's easy. All we have to do, is separate the groceries into things that can be bagged together and put them on the little conveyor belt." We start unloading the cart and the girl behind the counter looks bored. She's Hispanic, with light brown hair and dark brown eyes, maybe 18 or 19 at the most, and she's smacking her gum. Her name tag says Arianna. "I like uour name it's pretty," I tell her politely, she smiles, "Thanks, I've never heard that before." Griffin gives me a weird look but I ignore him, "375.48" Arianna says, about 10 times perkier than she was 5 minutes ago. Compliments do that to people you know? I give her 380, "Keep the change, think of it as a tip," I smile and push the cart away and Arianna puts the change in her pocket. When we get back to the car, Griffin asks, "Did you give her that compliment to be nice? Or to get her to be more polite?" "Well I actually do like the name Arianna, I always have. So I guess I was being nice today." He takes my hand across the console, "You know, you can be a very sweet girl if you want to be," I chuckle, "Key words 'if you want to be' most of the time I don't really care for being nice to people, but she looked down, so I figured hey what the hell right? But don't get used to it, those moments are few and far between."
