With my face up to the shining sun,
Wind in my hair,
I continue to run
Around and around the big maple tree
Twirling and laughing
Feeling so free.
And as fun as it is
Running about
With no purpose,
With no doubts
Because my face is up to the sun,
I'm unaware of what I'm around.
Then with one wrong step,
Too sharp a turn
I head straight for the tree.
Face meets bark,
Rough meets soft
And then I'm down on my arse
Confused and alarmed.
Finally looking around, aware
I realized I was the only one there.
I've never felt so lonely.
