And look in here! A curious sight, The zoo has reached an all-new height: Nine feet tall from shell to tail: That inconceivable invertebrate: The LankySnail.
How could so strange a thing exist? Yet here it stands, within our midst; We crane our necks to see the thing: That mighty mountainous mollusculan king!
I've never seen a thing so odd, This tall but narrow gastropod; A tiny body hides beneath, The tallest shell beyond belief!
It labours hard to move along, A balancing act that just seems wrong; A common snail would be in shock, To cart not house, but tower-block!
We can only wonder what's inside, That soaring shell it wears with pride; Zoologists believe it's piled, With floors of rooms, each nicely tiled.
But do not mock the LankySnail, For though you think of it a Fail; Its journey home - so slow a track: But why rush when home is on your back?
