Once there was a little acorn. It hung, waiting, on a tree. Life was dull. Then one day, a large, furry, gray animal came and stuck the poor acorn in its mouth. Now, the acorn thought, I will certainly die. But then, just as the creature was about to eat the little acorn, a person, a little boy, scared the animal into dropping the acorn and running off. The boy picked up the acorn and looked at it. Then he put it in his pocket and ran to a giant thing, which had funny round things on it and was attached to two enormous creatures. They began to move.
Days later, really only hours in human time, the acorn felt the thing stop. The boy got out and ran to the centre of a large meadow. He dug a small pit and dropped the acorn inside. The last thing the acorn saw was a mound of dirt being pushed into the hole. Then there was only black.
