You are the fire,
Burning in my brain.
You are the aching heart,
Bursting in my vein.
You are the fountain,
From which I long to drink.
You are the only thought,
My mind can ever think.
You are the lovers knot,
In which I'm always tied.
You are the only sight,
My blinded eyes abide.
You are the ocean,
In which I yearn to swim.
You are the only song,
My lips will ever sing.
You are the ebbing tide,
That's leaves me upon the shore.
You are the only one,
I love, I need, I adore.

@smellyfingers lol thanks, I wish I could say I had an inspirational day but I just found some of my old poems and thought I'd share them. Very happy you like them :D
@ydistral did you learn something new tho? That's the main things isn't it? Your works is awesome. ;-) x
@smellyfingers if you don't learn something new you've wasted the day! I have to admit to the vanity of hindsight with these, reworked them a bit and happy I still like them. And thanks for the compliment! Actually means a lot coming from someone whose work I admire :)
@ydistral I'm always tweaking and never really happy with my stuff, if I was I would stop. Always room for improvement, right? Thank you for the return compliment. I admire you too ;-) x
@smellyfingers if we created perfection I agree we'd stop, it's the constant urge to express ourselves better that brings all this out. It's not like getting blood from a stone, more like cauterising the wound sometimes. Onwards to new
@ydistral what is perfection? It's bullcrap ego, vanity or something isn't it? It's all about perception for me. The pieces I do that I think are a bit dodgy or not that good seem to get the best response. Funny olde world isn't it. Lol x
@smellyfingers I don't think I'd know perfection I it came and bit me in the bum, I just know that writing is cathartic for me and if people like it then that's a bonus. I agree with you about people liking my stuff that I thinks not too great... Seems we have a lot if mice on Opuss as everyone goes for the cheese ;)
@ydistral yes, that's what should drive us on as human beings, always learning, always wanting to know more. It's good for the soul isn't it, to write our emotions. Nice analogy ;-) x
@smellyfingers not a truer word has been spoken! All great accomplishments made by humanity has been driven by a lust for knowledge and an understanding of the world around us and our place in it. I will forever extol the virtues of writing down what's in my head rather then screaming it at a wall, if only because you can look back on it and see how you've changed and grown :)
@ydistral well said. That's my logic too. I have a thirst for knowledge. It's weird tho as I like to learn a little about a lot, others are happy to learn lots about a little. For some reason I seem to be able to grasp things quite well then, move on. I look at it this way: I don't need to know the ins and outs of physics or science or Maths to understand how things work. Having a great long term memory does help, my short term memory is poor. Forget a name but will always remember a face, Lool x
@smellyfingers hahaha! Know exactly what you mean. I'm with you on the accumulation of lots of different facts/theories/ ideas etc. I don't want to be an expert in one field when I'm a great all rounder, besides you can't make sense of this thing called life if you restrict your knowledge to one area... I don't want to be Henry's Cat "he knows everything about nothing and not too much about that" ;)
@ydistral hahaha yeah exactly. Our brain is like a sponge, soak it up with knowledge. Meaning of life = knowledge, shared. IMO :-) xxx
@smellyfingers totally agree! And everyone's knowledge is based on perceptions and experience there is no one true meaning of life... No one is right, no one is wrong as we make it all up as we go along! Hahaha :P
@ydistral indeed!! My truths will not be your truths, walk your path and I will walk mine, maybe we will meet at a cross road, which way shall we go? X
@ydistral that's the beauty of opuss, no masks, no fake egos, I give honesty and love, it repays me with words.....beautiful isn't it and it's not hard to do, just say what we feel and then tweak/edit another day ;-) thank you for your honesty and kind words, I really appreciate it, my muse lol ;-) xxxx
Both look at the world through similar eyes... Now if only I could get the hang if typing lying down I'd be near to that vain idea of perfect lol!
@ydistral yes I enjoy putting the world right with you, look forward to more chats, it's good to connect with others on the same wavelength isn't it ;-) I look forward to your "perfection" piece ;-) lol xxxx
@smellyfingers more reasons to like Opuss :) I have some ideas brewing now... Not sure I want to hit perfection but I can at least aim for it :) nn
@ydistral nice work man! You've inspired me to put up a few of my straight up lyric pieces. And don't worry about the hindsight thing, I go back on nostalgia trips all the time. I like to remember days web I had more brain cells! Squeak squeak? J x
@Zoodark thanks for the compliment mate! This one was quite far from my normal style and subject matter so I'm really pleased with the positive feedback. The chat it created with smelly was worth me cringing at my softer side, but it's good to let it out once in a while :) look forward to reading more of your work and starving the mice ;)
