I'd like to write a poem
A poem that rhymes ok
But when I try, I fail my task
And miserably say
'Why can't I write a poem
the one that's meant to rhyme?
Why does everyone succeed
And I always must run and hide?'
I look into dictionaries for a word to rhyme
But all I find are irrelevant
And makes no sense half the time
People read my poems
And say 'this doesn't rhyme'
I blankly look them in the eye
And say 'it doesn't have to'
I feel ashamed -I have to say
for I love rhyming poems
One expects one to rhyme
For it sounds real nice and pleasant
When I finish writing this
I will read this back to thee
And you can say
If it rhymes -or pretend as if it did.

I stumbled across this and had to share. This is another poem from back in the day when I was a wee ickle lass. This always brings a smile to my face and so thought you too could do with a smile too. ;)
This also has given me an idea for another brainwave... Do you fancy having like a: Raw Write Wednesday, where we share a poem or two in it's raw form (or a poem from your young'en days that you have not shared on Opuss yet). This would follow through nicely with @Stablish's Childhood Memories & Photo day on Monday (keep an eye out for his posts). :)
I see raw writes like those erratic, pensive doodles one does when bored, on the phone, in a dull meeting/class, etc... These doodles are great insights to the creative mind and I believe every once in a while it's good to share these sketches of the imagination. Let me know what you think and if y'all a yay, then come Wednesday post a Raw Write Poem/Prose/etc. and share with us using the tag:
(Remember this isn't an opportunity to display your fave pieces of writings or repost old Opuss posts, this is your opportunity to share your hidden gems in it's beautiful raw form.)
