You will need; 1 thick slice of bread Butter (for frying) Caster Sugar Vanilla seeds or essence. 1 whole egg

Ok guys here's how I do it;

Crack the egg into a bowl and whisk until it's all one colour.

Add the bread to the bowl and soak thoroughly in the egg.

Heat a frying pan and add a good size knob of butter, allow to melt.

Add the bread to the pan, and, while one side cooks, add a good sprinkle of sugar and vanilla to the visible side, oh yes, and don't skimp with the vanilla.

After a minute, turn the bread over using a spatula and repeat the procedure with the sugar and vanilla. Wait a while until the bottom of the bread is golden, then,

Turn over the bread again and finish until both sides are crisp and golden

That's it - you're done. Tip it out and get stuck in!
