Read my post The Final Pokémon League for more infomation!

It was night-time as I prepared for the final round of the last Pokémon League to be held. Sorting through my portable PC Boxes, I selected the six Pokémon I would use.

I was the only person in the trainer's common room apart from a brown-haired girl with shining blue eyes. She was Alex Farrier, and I was about to take her on in a beautiful moonlit night. This was going to be a battle to remember.

The speakers in the room sounded. "Could Miss Alex Farrier and Master Alec Victory please advance to their positions," the tinny voice said.

Alex turned to go, but I stopped her and held out my hand. "Good luck," I lsaid.

Alex seemed reluctant to take hold of my hand. "And good luck to you too," she said. She seemed more introvert than normal.

While we were shaking hands, I began to wonder why she wasn't acting all feisty and ignoring me like she did to other competitors. I knew how she liked to hang out with the boys, but she never acted all kind and calm like she did when I was around. I already had secret feelings for her. I just wasn't sure whether she had positive thoughts about me.

The speakers interrupted our moment of calm and thought. It annoyingly repeated its words that it had said last time. "Could Miss Alex Farrier and Master Alec Victory please advance to their positions," it said again. "The battle is scheduled to start in two minutes," it added. "Please be ready for the battle with 6 Pokémon each, and healing items are prohibited."

"This is it," I said.

"Let's give them a fight to the finish," Alex added.

We both nodded and split down the opposite corridors that reached round to the east and west ends of the battleground. I was really nervous - I wanted to battle the champion so much. But this one confrontation would decide whether I would - or wouldn't. I knew how powerful Alex Farrier was - I would try and go against her with type advantages. They were my best shot.

I reached the end of the corridor and waited patiently for the doors to open to the screaming crowd. I calmly went through my Pokémon - Victini, Zorua, Serperior, Archeops, Margikarp and of course, Aura, my Riolu with the severe Distortion Call.

Just then, the automatic doors slowly slid open. I walked through the entrance to the battlefield and stepped into the floodlit stadium. The deafening screaming became even louder and the applause started up as Alex and I stepped up onto our podiums.

The referee moved forward. "This is the final round between Alex Farrier and Alec Victory! Each trainer shall use six Pokémon each, and no healing items are allowed! You may not switch out Pokémon! All held items are allowed!" he shouted over the roar of the excited crowd. But then the spectators gradually grew silent as they waited for the start of the battle.

The referee stepped back onto his spot. "BEGIN!" he shouted.

"All right, Serperior, come on out!" I exclaimed as I threw my Poké-ball into the middle. The ball opened and the energy inside reconstructed itself into my huge, leafy, green serpent.

"Flareon, do your best!" Alex shouted as her Poké-ball was flung into the air. A red-hot wolf-like Pokémon materialised. "Right, Flareon, use Inferno!" Alex ordered.

Flareon began to create a huge fireball in her mouth. When the fireball was even larger than Flareon, Flareon fired it as hard and fast as she could at Serperior.

"Dodge it and then use Stone Edge!" I quickly said.

"Stone Edge?" Alex wondered to herself, confused.

Serperior easily slithered out of the way and let the fireball harmlessly hit the wall behind him. Then he started to summon stones and stones and stones until there were about thirty of them. After that, Serperior launched them at Flareon.

The red fox was cornered as the stones impacted, sending Flareon flying back into the wall behind.

"Hang in there!" Alex cried out desperately.

Flareon shakily stood up and leapt back onto the battlefield, raring for more.

Alex smiled. "That's the spirit! Okay, Flareon, use Inferno again!" she shouted.

Once again, Flareon fired the heated ball. And this time it hit its target. But my Serperior shrugged it off with literally no damage being dealt to him.

Alex was surprised. "What?" she exclaimed.

I grinned. "The Stone Edge move did seem a little out of place, didn't it?" I said.

As I spoke, my 'Serperior' started to transform. He was covered in a glowing, purple light. Wings suddenly started growing out of my Pokémon's body, and the leaves on the end of his tail became smaller. The head took the shape of a more predatory creature. Feet began to sprout from under the main body, and claws were revealed at the ends of the wings. As the purple light faded, the true multi-coloured prehistoric Pokémon was revealed.

"Meet Archeops," I said. "With the Illusion ability."

"How-" Alex started. Then she realised. "I don't believe it!" she exclaimed. "You found an Illusion Ability Switcher?"

"Yes," I replied. Then I was back into battle mode. "Archeops, Rock Slide!" I ordered.

Archeops concentrated and sent 8 huge boulders crashing down from nowhere on top of Flareon. The weight was too much for the little Pokémon, and she collapsed.

The referee looked over at Flareon and made his decision. "Flareon is unable to battle! The first victory goes to Alec!" he announced to the cheering spectators.

And back at home, my mum will be cheering in front of the TV, Alec thought happily.

"You did well, Flareon," Alex said kindly to her Pokémon as she returned her. She then pulled another Poké-ball from her belt.

"Vaporeon, you're up next!" she exclaimed, letting fly with the Poké-ball. An aqua-blue wolf-like Pokémon was revealed. "Right, Vaporeon!" Alex shouted, getting straight to the point. "Use Hydro Pump!"

A huge volume of water was blasted at my Archeops under a huge amount of pressure. "Dodge it!" I shouted.

Archeops flew to the right and let the water bounce off the back wall. It rebounded off the left wall and hit Vaporeon in the side - but instead of the move dealing a little damage, Vaporeon absorbed the attack as if it was nothing.

Water Absorb couldn't really hold me back - I didn't know any Water-type moves. But I did know a Flying-type move. "Archeops, use Acrobatics!" I ordered.

Archeops went into a dive, flying at an immeasurable speed towards Vaporeon.

"Quickly, Vaporeon, use Surf!" Alex shouted.

Vaporeon summoned a huge wall of water and threw it at Archeops. It hit Archeops and launched him into the back wall. He didn't stir. It was a one hit knockout.

"Archeops is unable to battle!" the referee shouted. "The victory goes to Alex!" There was more screaming from the fans.

I clapped to Alex in congratulation. She acknowledged it with a slight bow of her head.

"Thanks, Archeops," I said as I returned my faithful prehistoric friend. I picked out another Poké-ball. "This time, it's you, Serperior!" I shouted as I released the real leafy serpent. "All right, Frenzy Plant!" I ordered.

Serperior closed his eyes and concentrated. Suddenly, huge roots emerged from the ground, wriggling and writhing. They all came down as one onto Vaporeon. She didn't stand a chance.

The tree roots smashed into Vaporeon, creating a huge dust cloud. When it cleared, the referee saw Vaporeon was down and out. "Vaporeon is unable to battle!" he announced. "The victory goes to Alec!"

"Well done, Serperior!" I said. Serperior looked round and nodded. The work we had been doing with the dummy had paid off.

Alex returned Vaporeon, thanking her, and then sent out a Jolteon. The sparky fox pawed the ground with its clawed feet. "Let's go with Pin Missile!" Alex shouted.

Jolteon leapt into the air and let rip with a barrage of spikes. They flew right towards Serperior.

"Let's show them what else we can do!" I said. "Serperior, use Leaf Tornado!"

Serperior began to twirl his tail, like he was mixing the air. He spun faster and faster. Leaves started appearing in the huge collection of wind.

"Do it!" I ordered.

Serperior slammed the tornado down onto the flying spikes, destroying them. I could imagine the smug look on his face.

"Shock Wave!" Alex ordered.

I knew that the move could never miss, so I couldn't do anything as I watched Serperior get zapped. Electricity crackled round the green serpent's body. "Come on, Serperior," I muttered. "Shake it off!"

After a tense 10 seconds, the effect finally wore off, and Serperior was back in the game. But Alex didn't let up. "Double-Edge!" she shouted.

Jolteon charged at Serperior and hit him so hard he dented the back wall. But Serperior was still just in - and Jolteon had taken the toll of recoil.

"Serperior, Energy Ball!" I ordered.

Serperior started to draw power, then unleashed it at Jolteon.

"Fury Swipes!" Alex shouted.

Jolteon ripped through the Energy Ball and leapt towards Serperior. Once she reached Serperior, she began to rake her claws at him. I watched in despair as Serperior was slowly KO'd.

"Serperior is unable to battle!" the referee announced. "The victory goes to Alex!"

Alex whipped back her auburn hair and smiled. Jolteon was also grinning. "Bring it on, Alec!" she said. "I haven't had this much fun for quite a long time!"

I smiled. "Then bring it on I will," I replied. Returning Serperior, I brought out my next Pokémon - Margikarp.

Alex laughed. "Did you realise your type disadvantage?" she asked.

"No," I said, "as a matter of fact." I shouted to Margikarp, "Use Foul Play!"

I had chosen the right move. Jolteon had a huge Attack stat as Alex had wanted to raise a physically strong Pokémon. Foul Play turned the opponent's attack power against it, so this would hurt.

Margikarp charged Jolteon and bashed into her like a battering ram. Jolteon was sent backwards and smashed into the wall behind her. Shakily, she managed to get up and carry on. But Jolteon was tiring.

"All right, use Dark Pulse!" I ordered.

The power expanded and crashed into Jolteon,
