She's underneath the bed again,
But not for the reason you'd think.
It's not the dark or the boogie man-
Her dads had a drink.
He's fighting with mummy again,
She can hear her tears.
"please don't leave me with daddy" she whispers -
The front door slams and confirms her fears.
She hears the footfalls at the door,
He's banging to get in,
She grabs her little teddy bear,
Against him she cannot win.
He calls her name but can't get inside,
Mummy give her a key.
She knew this would happen,
"why would she leave me?"
He starts kicking in the door,
Forever screaming out her name.
She covers her ears, she's used to this-
Every nights exactly the same.
