What happened to you? You used to be so wonderful;
You were a sister-like figure whose advice I'd always take to heart.
We could talk for hours it seemed, never wanting to part,
You'd share all your secrets, confide in me, and have my trust.
It all seemed illustrious; the perfect friend whom I'd never lose.
But then change happened; poison coursed through your veins,
And I've no clue as to what you turned into:
You became a shadow; a shattered reflection of your former self.
You'd burn those who held you dear, cutting the ties that they harboured you with.
And after you'd finished your childlike tantrum,
You expected to come home into open arms.
I foolishly welcomed you back,
But I soon came to realise my mistake.
Now, you linger, still bound by the ties I made long ago.
And even though I forcefully comfort you when you are dismayed,
I'll never be able to shake the feeling of when I was betrayed.
