A challenge I set myself,
With five minutes on poem’s shelf.
To improvise a catchy rhyme,
I hope I have enough time
But what to say I hardly know
Should I speak about the seeds I sow
Or should I speak of the day’s events?
Though nothing happens that’s that intense!
I’ll pluck a subject from the air,
Perhaps i’ll speak about my hair?
It’s blonde and short and annoys me so,
Would be better, perhaps if it didn’t grow!
Perhaps I’ll talk about my cat,
Who’s ginger and gorgeous but so fat!
For it’s she who keeps me from insane
She purrs and listens with nowt to gain.
That is five minutes almost gone,
Just a few seconds more and then I’m done
I have so much I need to say,
Perhaps I’ll write it all someday
The things that I dare not admit
Things that need more thought then a five minute skit
Watch this space and someday you’ll see
I’ll write about the truth….me!
