Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't updated this story in a while... I keep forgetting. I'll try to get the next chapter out quicker. Enjoy...
I finish dusting the oak coffee table for the 100th time today. Seriously- how clean does a stupid table need to be? It's so not fair!
"Maicy? Are you done yet?" I call up the stairs into Tawn and Vynn's room.
"Almost!" Maicy replies. I walk around the stairs and flop down on one of the Pillet's oversized sofas. The house looks like a dump on the outside, but is amazing on the inside. Small, but amazing. Maicy lied about the house being "Not that bad." It's perfect! I mean, everything is so fancy, elegant, and expensive. How do they get the money for all this stuff, but not for a decent house? Weird.
Sudently, I hear the sound of glass shattering come from the kitchen, followed by a weak "Oops." Gabby is so clumsy!
"WHAT WAS THAT?" Tawn shrieks from the den. I hear some rustling in the kitchen, then heavy footsteps.
"I-I'm sor-" Gabby's voice gets cut off as it turns to a quick, short, high scream. A loud boom echoes through the house. Did Tawn just shoot Gabby?
Weakly, I crawl back onto the floor. I lift up the rag I was using and spin it in half-hearted circles around the wood table. I hear Gabby crying in the kitchen.
"Never. Do. That. Again." I can hear Tawn whisper-scold at Gabby. Then Tawn struts into the living room. "Anything wrong in here?" Tawn snaps her gum.
"Uh... N-no...oo?" I sputter.
"Better not be." Tawn sashays upstairs. That's the weird thing about this living room (and house)- the stairs are in the middle of the living room, and lead straight to the door, the only door. There's only one room upstairs- Tawn and Vynn's room. Well, it is a shack, anyway.
Worried, I snuck into the kitchen. Gabby's face is all scrunched up and she's holding her arm. "What did Tawn do to you?" I whisper. Gabby's eyes flicker to the table, where a rope is sitting. Wait, a whip. Did Tawn just whip Gabby's arm? No way!
"Oh my God!" I look around for something that I could use to help Gabby. Why am I doing this? I mean, this is Gabby- the girl who I've hated since forever- we're talking about!
Just then, I heard the squeek of the upstairs door. Tawn's coming down!
Where should I hide? Wait, why do I need to hide? I run over to the sink cabinet and fumble around inside. Tawn walks into the kitchen. "Hmph!" She sighs, then walks away. I poke my head out from under the sink, a can of 'Clear-All' and a clean rag in my hands.
Quietly, I tiptoe over to Gabby and take her injured arm. She winces and looks up at me with puppy-dog eyes. Oh, why am I even doing this?
I wrap the rag around Gabby's arm. She tenses up and lets out a harsh moan. I put my finger to my lips and leave the kitchen.
I kneel back down at the coffee table and set my new can of 'Clear-All' on it. I get back to cleaning the table, thinking about Gabby. About Maicy. About Tawn. Why would Tawn whip Gabby for dropping a glass thing? Yeah, it's dangerous, but still. Nobody's perfect. Gabby definatly isn't perfect... She's, well, Gabby. She's worse than perfect...
Shaking my head to clear my mean thoughts, I look up. Maicy walks out of Tawn and Vynn's room. She gives me a weird look, as if to say 'What did Tawn do to you?'
I shake my head no and gesture into the kitchen. "She whipped Gabby!" I mouth.
Maicy's face loses it's color. "No way!" She mouths back. Maicy looks around and signals for me to cone up the stairs. I set down my rag and slowly climb up the shaky stairs into the one-roomed upstairs. Maicy closes the door behind me.
"TAWN WHIPPED GABBY??!!?" Maicy whisper-shouts to me.
"Shush! And yes!" I look over my shoulder at the door.
"Why? What did Gabby do?" Maicy begs.
"She dropped a glass thing!" I explain. Maicy paces around the room.
"Not good. Not good at all. What did you do to Gabby after she was whipped?"
"Um, I wraped her arm in a rag?"
"A DIRTY ONE??!" Maicy screams in disbeilef. "SHE'LL GET INFECTED!! WHAT WERE YOU THINKING???"
"MACIN! WHAT IS GOING ON UP THERE?" Vynn yells from downstairs.
"UM, THINKING OUT LOUD?" Maicy opens the door and calls out.
"No! A clean one!" I assure Maicy as I scamper into the living room. "Quiet! We'll talk later!"
"Uhh... Kay?" Maicy's mouth turns into an evil grin. "Over and out." She shuts the door.
I roll my eyes. We're not spies here! I go back to dusting the coffee table for the 102 time today, wondering how I'll survive living here with the Pillets. I'm not joking- I actually think I might die soon. I hope not...
