We walk into Kwena standing tall and proud. I hope Ellie doesn't come down the hill and do something stupid. I don't even know why Ellie has to stay up there on the hill.
Everybody gets quiet as we get closer.
"What are we supossed to do?" I whiper to Tessa.
"Act like your Ellie." she answers.
"What?" I'm confused.
"Your name is Ellie now! Don't ruin this!" Tessa hisses. Well then. This is getting crazy. I look over at Keleb for an explaination, but he just shrugs. Helpful.
The group of Kwenians parts way for us. We walk through the gap and I gasp. Standing there is a man that looks strangley like Her. No. No. No.
"Hello, Tessa, Keleb, and Ellie. We have been awaiting your arival." The man-Her greets us in a strained happy voice.
"We know, Samuel." Tessa squints her eyes at him.
"Well, we all decided that we would let you stay the night and get supplises. You have to leave in the morning, and leave the Alps. For good." Samuel snaps his fingers and two teenage boys step out of the crowd. "Please assist these three to their rooms. And Ellie?"
I gulp. "Yes?"
"You remind me of someone. Someone I can't exactly think of right now. Go." The teenagers take our arms and pull us away.
Those guys are strong. I've been through training a million times before, yet I'm no match for them. Tessa looks stressed, and Keleb keeps looking back at the hill Ellie is on. Poor Ellie. I wonder how she'll cope up there.
The teenagers drag us across Kwena and throw us into a small hut.
Instintaly, my fingers start tingling. There's heating in here. Keleb wasn't kidding. I look around. There's two beds, three chairs, and one table. A big chest sits next to a wall. Keleb walks over to it and opens it.
"Empty. That figures." he screws up his face.
"Let me see." I look and sigh. "Your right."
Tessa flops down on a bed. "This sucks. We're stuck here in Kwena for the night with Ellie up on that hill. She's probably starving. What's in your bag?" she walks over to me and opens it up. Her eyes widen.
"Oh. My. God."
"What??!?!?" Keleb runs over and grabs my bag. "No way!!!" I grab my bag. All I see is my tent, sleeping bag, pots, matches, and some food. What I've always had in my bag.
"What?"
"All the... all the-"
"FOOD!" Keleb finishes. I stare at them and laugh.
"All the food? This is barely any food. 4 cans of beef stew, 8 packets of plain ramen noodles, 3 instant chicken and vegetable dinners, and 12 cheese cracker sandwiches isn't a lot." I say. Actually, it kinda is, but only for one person. "It'll only last us about a week with all four of us."
"So?" Keleb shakes his head. "That's more food then I've ever seen at one time!" Tessa nods in agreement. Istare at them again. Have they ever heard of Thanksgiving? Then I remember. That's an American holiday, and these two have probably been living in the Alps for all there life. It's probably hard to get food up here.
"Can we eat some?" Tessa asks, trying hard not to sound desperate.
"Sure." I give us each a cheese cracker sandwich packet. Keleb rips his open and stuffs a cheese cracker sandwich in his mouth.
"Umm erry mud!" he chews.
"Keleb!" Tessa scolds, then stuffs her face, too. I laugh and take a bite of mine. I then realize I haven't eaten all day and am starving. I look at the two Kwenanians and think. They probably haven't eaten in days. At least the constent snow gives them unlimited water.
Then I think of Her. She brought me here. On purpose. At least she gave me this bag and my coat... And why did Samuel look so much like Her? Who did Samuel think I looked like? Why do we only get tonight to stay in Kwena, and why do we have to leave in the morning?
"Hey guys?" I ask, interupting their joyful eating.
"What?" Keleb asks.
"Why do we have to leave the Alps and never return?"
Keleb turns to Tessa and she shakes her head side to side. Keleb sighs.
"You'll find out soon enough."
